Peer-Review Policy
The peer-review process is the core of scientific publication, ensuring the quality and integrity of published research. At the Journal of Educational Innovation and Research (JEIR), this process relies on the expertise of editors and reviewers to evaluate submitted manuscripts. The JEIR's rigorous double-blind peer-review process is as follows:
- Manuscript Submission: Authors submit their manuscript through JEIR's Online Journal System (OJS).
- Initial Editorial Assessment: The Editor-in-Chief conducts an initial assessment to determine if the manuscript's content aligns with the journal's aims and scope. Manuscripts that do not meet the minimum criteria or are deemed inappropriate are subject to desk rejection at this stage.
- Associate Editor Assignment: If the manuscript passes the initial assessment, the Editor-in-Chief will assign an Associate Editor with relevant expertise to manage the peer-review process.
- Peer Review by Experts: The Associate Editor invites at least two independent expert reviewers to evaluate the manuscript. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and to ensure there is no conflict of interest with the authors. The reviewers evaluate the manuscript's scientific soundness, originality, clarity, and contribution to the field. This review process typically takes 4 to 8 weeks.
- Editorial Decision: After receiving the reviewers' feedback, the Associate Editor makes a recommendation to accept, reject, or request a revision. Revisions are categorized as either minor or major.
- Minor Revision: The Associate Editor will review the corrected manuscript to ensure all comments have been addressed.
- Major Revision: The revised manuscript is sent back to the original reviewers for a second round of review to verify that the changes are satisfactory.
- Final Decision: The final decision to accept or reject the manuscript rests with the Editor-in-Chief. This decision is based on the reviewers' recommendations, the quality of the revised manuscript, and other requirements, such as a maximum similarity level of 20%. The average time from initial submission to the first decision is typically 6-10 weeks.
Appeals Against Editorial Decisions
Authors may appeal an editorial decision if they believe there was a substantive error in the review process or a misinterpretation of the manuscript. Appeals must be submitted in writing to the Editor-in-Chief, clearly stating the reasons for reconsideration. The appeal will be reviewed by an independent editorial board member who was not involved in the original decision.
